Pirate & Treasure Museum is scheduled to open Wednesday

The Pirate & Treasure Museum, at 12 S. Castillo Drive, St Augustine, FL is scheduled to open Wednesday after months of construction and preparation.
The museum holds multiple rooms filled to the ceiling with original pirate artifacts, interactive movies and sounds, treasure hunts and games.
Owner of the museum Pat Croce hope that,museum will be coolest attraction in St. Augustine and will grow to be the best museum in the world.
Top things to do at the museum:
  • Take a picture with an original Jolly Roger pirate flag
  • Find all the hidden drawers (marked with a skull and cross bones) in the museum
  • Fire the cannons on the ship’s deck
  • See one of the last original treasure chests used by pirates
  • Read about the women pirates who wrecked as much havoc as the men

2010 St. Johns County Festival of Trees at World Golf Village!

The family friendly event full of holiday cheer has quickly become a favorite tradition in the community benefiting St. Johns County’s most needy families and offering a fun-filled event for participants and visitors!

The St. Johns County Festival of Trees at World Golf Village began in 2004 with the purpose of offering families in the area, as well as visitors, an enjoyable holiday event benefiting needy families and individuals in our own community of St. Johns County

Festival of Trees will take place Friday, Dec. 3 through Sunday, Dec. 12 at the St. Johns County Convention Center adjacent to the Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village.

The event is free and open to the public and includes:
A display of more than 50 beautifully decorated tree and wreaths, featuring a variety of themes from traditional to creative takes on the holiday season.
Voting for your favorite trees by $1 donation that will benefit the two local charities, The Empty Stocking Fund and United Way of St. Johns County.
Bring holiday cheer to your home or business when you take home one of the trees or wreaths through the silent auction. All proceeds benefit the two local charities.
Meet Mr. & Mrs. Claus, enjoy cookie decorating and more during the grand opening celebration, Friday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m.!

OPENING OF PIRATE AND TREASURE MUSEUM

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fl

Opening of the new St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum has been re-scheduled for Wednesday, December 8.  The museum will open to the public at 9 a.m. on that date and will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with extended hours during the holiday season.

At the St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum you can relive the Golden Age of Piracy in a fantastic journey through exciting displays of authentic artifacts, real treasure and interactive fun!

 museum tells the story of pirates in a factual and entertaining way through the use of interactive exhibits.  Included in the exhibits will be a Rogue’s Gallery devoted to the pirate captains to whom the town of St. Augustine was well-known.

Light up your evenings when the Surf Illumination complements the seasonal lighting of A1A Beach Boulevard. The event, from 4-6 p.m., includes the ceremonial lighting of the seasonal tree by the Mayor. Food and beverages are offered by local restaurants and many local arts and crafts vendors provide convenient shopping for the holiday season. Santa, musical performers and traditional carolers make it fun for all. This season’s lighting will be expanded to illuminate four buildings and most of the trees at Pier Park, creating St. Augustine Beach’s winter wonderland.

Living History Day at Fort Mose

Florida Living History Inc. and the Fort Mose Historical Society will offer living history demonstrations at Fort Mose Historic State Park on the last Saturday of every month (except December).
Volunteers will be onsite in period dress offering visitors a fascinating glimpse into the past. This program is weather permitting.
Fort Mose Historic State Park is the site of the first legally sanctioned African settlement in what is now the United States.

Directions: From St. Augustine: From downtown St. Augustine, drive north on A1A. At the carousel (you read it correctly), continue straight north on San Marco. (A1A turns right towards Vilano Beach. Don’t go that way.) San Marco merges with Hwy 1. Shortly after the merge, look for a bronze statue on the right and a sign for Fort Mose. Turn right on Fort Mose Trail. Fort Mose Trail dead ends into Fort Mose picnic area and parking lot.
OR: From Hwy 1 in St. Augustine, drive north past Hwy 16. Look for a bronze statue on the right and a sign for Fort Mose. Turn right on Fort Mose Trail. Fort Mose Trail dead ends into Fort Mose picnic area and parking lot.
